Volunteer Spotlight: 2012 Summer Interns

Project Sunshine 2012 Summer Interns

Project Sunshine's 2012 summer interns in New York City dedicated their summer break to run Project Sunshine's program, "Camp Project Sunshine". They worked with hospitals around the New York City area to spread sunshine to children facing medical challenges and their families. The interns became a bright yellow volunteer army, spreading sunshine in 13 medical facilities and facilitating 48 programs across four of the five New York City boroughs in just three short months!

Alcie, Alyssa, Anna, and Meghan coordinated a variety of programs, including Arts and Crafts, Sunshine Chefs, Tutoring, Book Buddies, and Party Time. They also played a crucial role in the Sending Sunshine program by assisting at corporate social responsibility events and organizing and distributing thousands of craft kits, surgi dolls, and sunny grams to medical facilities around the country.

The summer interns truly made an impact in the lives of many children and families facing medical challenges in just one summer.

"My friends dread waking up for work every morning, but every day I wake up excited to spread sunshine to these kids and look forward to seeing the smiles on their faces that show how much we brighten their days. I know I will be volunteering with Project Sunshine for many years to come!"
