Volunteer Spotlight: Stephanie Hemway & University of New Hampshire

Project Sunshine Volunteer - Stephanie Hemway & The University of New Hampshire

Stephanie Hemway had been a volunteer with Project Sunshine since she was a first year student at University of New Hampshire. Now, as both Chapter Leader and Senior in college, Stephanie works hard to bring attention to the wonderful programs that her college chapter brings to children in medical facilities. The dedicated chapter volunteers planned and executed a university-wide dodgeball tournament to support their volunteering, recruiting 100 people to participate! While participants waited for their game in the tournament, they created Sunnygram cards to be distributed at the next hospital visit. The event allowed University of New Hampshire students a return to childhood, while simultaneously championing a great cause.

"I became a project sunshine my first year of college because I was very impressed with the volunteer work that was all geared toward helping children take their minds off of their illnesses. Bringing smiles to childrenís faces and taking part in achieving a sense of normalcy in their childhood is so rewarding."
