Volunteer Spotlight: UnitedHealthcare Hearts Party
On Thursday, February 2, UnitedHealthcare Community & State´s Washington, DC office partnered with Project Sunshine and Children´s National Medical Center to host a hearts-themed party for children receiving treatment and their families. The volunteers decorated the atrium of the hospital with heart decorations, played games and made crafts in celebration of Valentine's Day and National Heart Health Month. Throughout the afternoon, children left clinics and doctor's appointments to attend the Hearts Party. They got their faces painted, decorated colorful bags to bring prizes and their handmade crafts home, and laughed with volunteers, parents, siblings, Child Life Specialists and nurses.
