Project Sunshine Week

May 7-14, 2007

Project Sunshine Week is a special time in which businesses in New York raise funds and awareness to promote Project Sunshine. Past companies include Club Monaco, Carolina Herrera and Flapdoodles.

This year, in celebration of Project Sunshine Week, these exciting promotions will take place:

  • The Empire State Building glows yellow from May 11-May 13
  • Mayor Bloomberg proclaims May 7th - May 14th “Project Sunshine Week” in New York City.
  • Stuart Weitzman designates one of his spring shoes as the "Sunshine Shoe," the Yellow Popsicle Sandal. Proceeds from the Madison Avenue store will go to Project Sunshine.
  • Project Sunshine will appear on two morning shows: CBS's The Early Show on Tuesday, May 8th and NBC’s Today Show on Wednesday, May 9th. Project Sunshine will be decked out in our infamous bright yellow t-shirts!

  • Judith Leiber creates a Project Sunshine key chain to sell in the Madison Avenue store with a percentage of sales going to Project Sunshine.
  • Helen Ficalora designs a special Sunshine Charm to benefit Project Sunshine. This will launch in both the New York City and Beverly Hills stores during Project Sunshine week. A percentage of sales will go to Project Sunshine. 
  • Starbucks holds book drives in multiple Manhattan stores to benefit Project Sunshine’s Book Buddies program. 
  • Origins Natural Resources will be donate 100% of net sales of Sunshine State™ SPF 20 Sunscreen during Project Sunshine Week in their New York City retail stores. Origins promotes beauty and wellness by celebrating the connection between Mother Nature and human nature.
  • KT Tunstall will perform for the children, families, and staff of the Kravis Children's Hospital at Mount Sinai. KT will give a special vocal performance, in addition to a question and answer session with these special smiling faces.
  • As a grand finale, we will host our Fourth Annual Project Sunshine Gala on Monday, May 14th at the Waldorf=Astoria in New York City.  The theme of this exciting evening is “Sunshine Safari," as we proudly honor Daria Myers, President of Origins Natural Resources. Celebrities and famous New York personalities will attend, and the event will top off with a blockbuster performance by Grammy-nominated Virgin recording artist, KT Tunstall.
